Lady on a Brick Wall

This is a pencil drawing that I did in 2009. I can't say what the inspiration behind it was. I took a look at it today and thought it was worthy of a blog post. Comment and let me know what you guys think of it.

Pencil Practice!

I did this one a while back so I don't really remember what pencils I used. I know for sure a 2B was in the mix but I don't remember what else.

Coloured pencil comparison. STAEDTLER VS CAMPAP.

STAEDLER Noris Club Coloured Pencils.

I thought these were a good buy as there were 24 pencils in the pack and Staedtler is supposed to be a superior brand.

I gave them a shot and I am really disappointed with them for the simple fact that they transfer much too lightly onto paper. The STAEDLER website says that they're soft and therefore leave an intense colour. SOFT??!?! It is possible that I just got a bad batch. I have only continued to use them as I really did not want to throw them away.

Something positive- These seem to be very durable. Kids have used the set that I own, so they've been dropped a number of times yet the lead appears to have remained in tact. Another good thing about these coloured pencils is that they're erasable (though I have found that they do not erase completely). So I suppose that is a plus for children who may be using them.

CAMPAP Coloured Pencils-12 Coloured Pencils.

I bought these to replace the STAEDTLER coloured pencils. In my opinion, the colour pay off is much, MUCH better. They're soft, so there is no need to press hard. Hopefully I can buy the larger pack as the small pack lacks some of the colours I both like and need.

Another thing that I like about these coloured pencils, is that their exterior is black. I'm not sure how they managed to make the wood black but I gotta tell ya, I think it's really cool.

Dislikes. Like most other soft lead pencils, it is ridiculously easy to break the point. Often the point gets stuck in the sharpener. If these pencils fall from you, get ready to sharpen. I can't suggest a way to work around the soft lead, other than to be ultra careful when sharpening and to place them in such a way that they don't roll and fall to the floor...but then again if you sit on the floor, dropping them shouldn't be much of a problem.

My advice to those looking for a good quality coloured pencils: Look for pencils with soft lead points. Ask if you could test the pencils out before purchasing as this may save you having to purchase two or more packs of coloured pencils.

Hope this was helpful,
Wai Li.

Pens to Brushes Makeup Brush Review- The ELF Mineral Blending Brush

I have had this brush for about a week or two. I wanted to make sure that I used it for a bit before doing a review. So, here goes.

The first thing I noticed about this brush is that it is extremely light weight. The handle is bamboo with an outer coating (most likely acrylic) to keep moisture out. Nobody wants a rotten brush handle, right?

At a glance you can tell that the bristles are synthetic, however, they are soft to the touch.

Makeup application- I have no problem with the way this brush blends products. I use it for bronzer and blush (don't ask why, I just do) and I am pleased with the results.

My problem with this brush? It sheds! *Insert Pouty Face Here*. This brush shed when I got it. It shed after the first wash (I washed it before use). It shed after the first couple of uses. Now, I know that some reviews speak highly of these mineral brushes but I would be lying if I said that I was in love with it. The ferrule of the brush is a bit shaky, which leaves me wondering about the brush's durability...SCARY!

Conclusion. Elf brushes are cheap, so if you are a makeup novice, it wouldn't be such a bad thing to invest in this particular brush.

Fun Nail Products-Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint

Kiss Brush-On Nail Art Paint.
These items are good for nail art/nail designs. They come with a super thin, long brush and are brightly coloured.
Honestly, I picked these up by accident. I was rushing to buy a present for someone, only to realize that they were not regular nailpolishes. Shorks!

On the first use, I found them to be quite watery, especially the yellow and green. I tried giving them a good shake to solve the problem. It did.

If for some reason you are not satisfied with the brush provided, you can always use your own nail brushes. Get creative and have fun. Use one or all the colours to make swirls, stripes, flowers and cupcakes.

Taking a Stab at Anime.

I have never attempted Anime before. So, I just used some pictures I found online for practice. Hopefully by next week I'll be doing some completely original stuff. I think I have potential. LOL. Thanks Dad for letting me steal your pen to do this... too bad it ran out of ink!
